Tree Removal Sydney

Dead, dangerous, storm-damaged or simply in the wrong place. With more than a decade of tree felling and removal behind us, we take trees down safely in tight Sydney backyards and leave a clean, clear site where the tree used to be.

What we do

Tree Removal across Sydney

Tree removal is the core of what Ace Tree Care does. Our team has spent more than ten years felling and removing trees in residential areas across Sydney, whatever their size or condition. Where there is room, a tree can come down in one piece. Most suburban trees are climbed and dismantled in controlled sections instead, with heavy limbs lowered on ropes clear of roofs, fences, pools and gardens.

Every job is planned before a saw starts: where each section will land, how the timber gets out, and whether power lines or council approval need sorting first. Safety, and a good working relationship with you, come before anything else.

We always remove the debris afterwards. Branches are chipped, timber is taken away and the site is left clean and clear. Add stump grinding to the same visit and there is nothing left to show the tree was ever there.

What's included

Free on-site quote

We look at the tree, the access, what is underneath it and the council rules for your address, then give you a clear price.

Felling or sectional removal

Open space means the tree can be felled. In backyards we climb and take it down piece by piece.

Controlled lowering over structures

Limbs over houses, fences and pools are tied off and lowered under control, never just dropped.

Chipping and debris removal

Branches go through the chipper on the day and the timber is taken away. Nothing is left in a pile for you.

Stump grinding (optional)

Add stump grinding and the stump is ground below ground level, ready for turf or garden.

Clean-up

Sawdust blown off, lawns raked and driveways swept before we leave.

When a tree should come out

  • Large dead limbs, thinning canopy or fungus growing at the base
  • A lean that is getting worse, or soil cracking or lifting on one side
  • Storm damage: split trunks, torn limbs or branches hung up in the canopy
  • Roots lifting paths, driveways or pool surrounds, or getting into pipes
  • A tree too close to the house, power lines or a planned extension, pool or driveway
  • Several trees to clear for a renovation, sale or new build

What affects the price

  • The size and spread of the tree
  • Access for equipment, and how far timber has to be carried
  • What is underneath: roofs, fences, pools and gardens
  • Power lines nearby
  • The tree's condition (dead or decayed trees need more care)
  • How many trees, and whether you want the stumps ground

We don't publish one-size-fits-all prices, because no two trees are the same. Send a few photos or book a free on-site visit and you'll get a clear, competitive quote with no obligation.

FAQ

Tree Removal in Sydney: common questions

Do I need council approval to remove a tree in Sydney?

Often, yes. NSW councils control tree removal on private land through their Development Control Plans, made under the State Environmental Planning Policy (Biodiversity and Conservation) 2021. Each council sets its own rules on which trees are protected, usually by size, species and location. Dead or dangerous trees sometimes have a faster path. We check the rules for your address at the quote and can help with the application. See our council tree permits page.

How long does a tree removal take?

A small tree can be down and cleaned up in an hour or two. A large tree being dismantled over a house can take most of a day for the full crew. We tell you the expected time when we quote so you can plan around cars, pets and neighbours.

Can you remove a tree near power lines?

Trees close to overhead power lines need extra care, and in some cases an Ausgrid-authorised contractor or a planned disconnection. We look at this when we quote and tell you exactly what is needed before any work starts.

What happens to the wood and branches?

We always remove the debris. Branches are chipped and taken away (or the mulch can be left for your garden if you would like it), and the timber is removed. The site is left clean and clear.

Are you insured?

Yes. Our team is fully trained, qualified and insured, and we are fully compliant and licensed. Team members have completed industry inductions, police checks and quality assurance courses.
